The music blocks out the sound

Voices rising and rising and rising still

The music up to full volume, trying to block out the sound of countless words being thrown

She wants to scream, to make them listen, but she knows that that will only add to the meaningless words thrown across the walls

She holds back the tears in her terra eyes, the feeling of loneliness and emptiness rising with each passing second

She wants to run, run to the valleys and hills, her friends and the animals

Anywhere but the place of hurtful words that she has been trapped in for countless years

The voices rising, not caring for the small one that tries to block them out

Never ending, the heart already broken

The soul already tearing slowly, feeling the pain that was fended off for so long coming and eating away

Thoughts spinning around in her head, her future being made by those who fight with anger and no feeling

She feels like a piece of scrap metal at the bottom of a garbage

She looks for a new song to block out the noise; she picks one and prays that it will block it out fully

But what she got surprises her, astonishes her, it talks to her, blocks out the noise

She listens, and she sees the images of different people, boys and girls, all together, all happy and saying kind things

Meaningful words are bounced in her ears, making her remember what it was like before the fights

For the first time in years she smiles a real smile, one that will light up an entire ball room
